Traveller Inceptio by Rob Shackleford

Posted on April 28, 2019August 28, 2020 by Orla Connors

Rob ShacklefordIf you are a lover of  time travel stories, whether it’s Back to the Future, H. G. Wells’ The Time Machine, or even historical fiction like The Mammoth Hunters; or perhaps you enjoy discussing and debating the possibility and impossibility of time paradoxes; then you need to get yourself a copy of the Traveller Inceptio. When I purchased this book, after reading the first few pages I was hooked!

Traveller Inceptio describes how the Transporter is accidentally invented and becomes public knowledge when it sends a subject 1000 years into the past into the harsh and beautiful world of Saxon England.

I loved the book not only for the story which is full of captivating twists and turns  and fascinating characters, but also for the picturesque, well researched portrayal of life in the past. We get a glimpse into a society amazingly different from those of modern times, and yet the dynamics can also be strikingly familiar at times.

Instead of reading the book in the conventional sense, from front to back in one sitting, I read this book during the course of a very busy, stressful weekend, often opening up a random page. The book immediately sucked me in its engrossing story and vivid conversations, and transported me to another reality. This book acted like a real time machine for me! It helped me to relax and go back to my work feeling rejuvenated.

The book is incredibly fun. We move through the  story watching the travelers adapt to a new life in 11th century England – learning while sharing those things they know with others – and finding a new life and new people. You can picture the life back then, and the story lets you feel and immerse yourself in the ancient past.

Rob’s storytelling will keep you turning the pages and marveling at the ingenuity of a people who had no electricity, no technology, no phone, no books and no hospitals. Reading it, I went through a range of emotions from compassion, awe, empathy and admiration.

Rob Shackleford does a fantastic job weaving every part in this story that will keep you reading all night long.

I enjoyed the book and certainly recommend it for you.

Comment from Rob Shackleford author of Traveller Inceptio:

Dear Zavesti Team

Recently I was privileged to have the Zavesti team conduct a review of my recently published novel; Traveller Inceptio.

When any author accepts the option for a literary professional to conduct a review, it is a process fraught with risk. A positive review makes my day, while a negative review can destroy confidence for much longer, for in exposing my dearest work, it leaves me vulnerable to maliciously harm.

I am grateful that the Zavesti team conducted the review of my Traveller Inceptio with a polite professionalism for which any author would be grateful. The review was professionally prompt and clearly described what the reader enjoyed or found challenging. Overall the review process was painless for me and, fortunately, was also positive.

I happily recommend the professional review services of Zavesti to any author.

Rob Shackleford
